Frame, 5x7 (#6)
This is a simple frame I made from mahogany for a 5x7 photo. It has a 1/8" round-over on the outside edges and uses basic 45 degree mitre construction. I added a 45 degree bevel on the inside edge leading to the glass and photo so that there's no shadow from the edge. The frame is 1.5" thick, but next time I'll build it 1" thick so I can make more frames from the same stock. For a larger frame, this would be an OK thickness, but I think that once it was done it turned out a bit too chunky. I finished sanded it to ~220 grit and then used a single coat of 1:1 linseed oil to mineral spirits, followed by some paste wax two days later. The backing is a 1/8" plywood board that was not finished and secured by 4 tiny screws at the corners, though 2 is probably sufficient. I 3D printed a two piece stand to include, so it's flat-packable for shipping.
